- Customer: Graham Construction
- Project: NHS Fife Orthopaedic Centre, Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy
- Specification: Thermal Lightweight Aggregate (TLA) & V Screed
Energyscreed were requested to provide a non-combustible heavy-duty insulation for both roof and a roof based plant room. Using the TLA system, Energyscreed were able to pour an insulation of EPS bound within a cement screed to meet the desired ‘U’ Value. This was installed using our truly unique Energyscreed Screed Factory truck that mixes and pumps huge volumes with no wastage. Energyscreed were able to encapsulate services and conduits within a completely seamless joint-free insulation that achieves an A2 fire rating.
The TLA layer was then covered with Vebro’s V-Cem to a nominal depth of 100mm. This was installed with D49 mesh at day joints and within 48 hours this was dry enough to apply finishes and the waterproofing system.
The combination of the Energyscreed Screed Factory, TLA and V-Cem enable the project to enjoy massive time, management and cost savings. The site had a very limited amount of space so not having to take multiple deliveries of insulation boards, sand and cement enabled other trades to continue unimpeded and this specification eliminated many of the construction risks and also life of building risks.
“The combination of the Energyscreed Screed Factory and TLA was truly game changing. It was effortless and very fast. The full team see many applications for this product and install method.”
